With #GivingTuesday ? the global day of online giving – just around the corner on December 2nd, we wanted to spotlight some of the local organizations who are joining the movement and thinking creatively about how to spread the word to their supporters through social media, partnerships, events and challenges. Read more about #GivingTuesday and ways your organization can get involved to amplify the movement in RVA and encourage the community to give back and give local.
HandsOn Greater Richmond is using twitter to combine their #GivingTuesday message with an #unselfie campaign – showing supporters taking selfies with signs explaining why they give to HandsOn. They also created a separate donor page for the day and explain ways that specific amounts of money can support their projects and initiatives.
VCU Massey Cancer Center partnered with The Daily in Carytown to host a celebration happy hour, where they have created a signature Massey cocktail menu to benefit Massey and will match menu donations for the first 100 beverages sold on December 2nd.
